ในที่สุดก็ถึงเวลาเปิดทีมอย่างเป็นทางการของ Ducati Factory ในรายการ World Superbike ที่ในปีนี้ ได้ดึงนักแข่งอย่าง Marco Melandri กลับเข้ามาแข่งขันอีกครั้ง

หลังจากที่เรื้อสนามไปหนึ่งฤดูกาลเต็ม ด้วยดีกรีแชมป์โลกรุ่น 250 ซีซี. ในปี 2002 พร้อมด้วยประสบการณ์ระดับรองแชมป์โลก ทั้ง WorldSBK (กับยามาฮ่าในปี 2011) และ MotoGP (กับทีม Gresini Honda ในปี 2005) แต่หลังจากนำทีมแฟคทอรี่ Aprilia รั้งอันดับสี่ใน WorldSBK  ปี 2014 ก็ ได้หวนคืนรายการ MotoGP ปี 2015 กับทีม Gresini Racing ที่ผันมาอาสานำเครื่องยนต์ Aprilia ปรับแต่งลงชิงชัย ก่อนที่จะแยกทางกันในช่วงปลายฤดูกาล พร้อมกับมีความคิดที่จะอำลาสนาม จนเรื้อจากการแข่งขันไปหนึ่งปีเต็ม





ก่อนที่ในปีนี้ทาง Ducati จะดึงตัวกลับมาเป็นทีมเมทของ Chaz Davies ใน WorldSBK อีกครั้ง  ซึ่งสรุปผลงานในอาชีพที่ผ่านมามีดังนี้
